Unit No.4 of Qinshan Phase II Expansion Project Successful Connected to Grid
At 20:30, November 11, the Unit No.4 of Qinshan Phase II Expansion Project, a 650MW nuclear steam turbine manufactured by HTC,was successful connected to the grid.
According to Mr. Rong Qiang, representative of Project Service Department for service support at site, and Mr. Lijun, vice chief of Nuclear Design Sector of Research Institute, after the unit was successfully connected to the grid, the steam turbine reached and fixed at 3000rpm speed, respectively carried 10%, 30% and 50% load to test the nuclear devices such as reactor, and completed overspeed test and DEH authomatic control test. During connection to the grid, all the vibration of 9 bearing pads of the unit was kept within 0.07mm and other technical index of the unit were at good level. It is known that the unit began 1-week shut down on December 3 for defect removal, and will conduct normal 100-hour continuous test running in the mid of December if appropriate. It is expected the unit will put into commercial operation by the end of this year. At that time, the 4 x 650MW nuclear steam turbine generator units of Qinshan Nuclear Phase II Project will have 18000-20000GW annual capacity, and Qinshan Nuclear Affiliate Company will become the nuclear power plant with most operating nuclear steam turbine and largest total installation capacity, and will be important nuclear power base together with Qinshan Phase I and Qinshan Phase III.
Mr. Xiaoyuguang, the Director of Nuclear Power Office said, Qinshan Phase II Project plans to install 2 x 650MW PWR nuclear units (i.e. Unit No.3 and No.4 of Qinshan Phase II), adopts localized nuclear CNP600 technology, 2 sets of 650MW nuclear steam turbine which is optimized unit independently designed by HTC. The localization percentage of this unit exceeds the proceeding two similar units (75% for Unit No.1 and No.2 of Qinshan Phase II). The successful connection of the unit to the grid also represents the design and manufacture capacity of HTC for large nuclear steam turbine is more proven and accumulates experiences for comprehensive manufacture of larger nuclear turbine for AP 1000 III.
