HTC Signed a Sategic Cooperation Agreementwith Datang New Energy for CSP Power Generation
On November 28, Mr. Lu Zhiqiang, Vice General Manager of HTC,signed a formal strategic cooperation agreement with Datang New Energy for CSP power generation and the two parties will cooperate with each other on the Erdos 50MW Parabolic Trough Solar Power Project. According to this agreement, HTC will coordinate with Datang New Energy to optimize the design scheme of solar collector field, heat exchanger island and power island to enable the power plant achieve optimum economic efficiency.
Mr. Lu said, as a new industry, CSP power generation is enlisted in the key strategic new industry to develop. During the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, CSP demonstration power plant will be constructed in appropriate places in Gansu, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, and Erdos 50MW Parabolic Trough Solar Power Plant, Inner Mongolia, which is contracted by Datang New Energy, will be the first one in China. There are two different solar power generation means, PV and CSP, just like twins. The PV applies solar cell technology to converse solar energy to electric energy, however due to the high pollution and high energy consumption of Crystalline silicon PV cell, which can not be overcome in a short time, it is confronted with pressure from environmental pollution although it can achieve certain profit; while CSP utilizes heat exchanger to supply steam to drive turbine for power generation, and its construction and maintenance may destroy the environment much less and achieve efficiency much higher than PV power generation. Therefore, it is said in the industry that the launch of 50MW parabolic trough CSP project will initiate Chinese solar power generation market and will have prosperous future
CSP will collect solar heat to produce steam directly or indirectly with heat exchanger, and utilizes the steam to drive turbine for power generation. It is materially differentiated from traditional fossil power generation plant by replacing the fossil-fueled boiler with solar heat
To grasp this new technology, HTC selected about 20 technical persons from the New Energy Preparation Office, Research Institute, Automatic Control Engineering and Auxiliary Equipment Engineering to take the first 40-day training given by a foreign cooperation authority, mainly on general design, system design ,equipment, electric and manufacture. The next training will focus on project management, site installation and commissioning as well as operation and maintenance. Such tightly scheduled training will enable the concerned technical persons and management persons to grasp key technology and management experiences related to new energy industry, typically CSP, and lay a solid foundation for HTC to make extensive development of new energy industry during “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”.
